The Queensland Government, Local Government Association of Queensland (LGAQ) and Ergon Energy have been working in close partnership to strengthen economic development across Queensland?s regions. Recognising that local government resources vary widely across the State, this partnership has seen provision of continuous access to essential information, knowledge and practical skill training to local government decision makers as a high priority. This tool is based on the national award winning guidelines "Incorporating Economic Development into Local Government Planning", previously produced by this partnership.

This information can assist local and regional economic development practitioners in designing and building effective local and regional economic development strategies and initiatives, to encourage increased incorporation of economic development into corporate planning and to enhance community and regional collaboration.  It provides a useful, practical mechanism for developing and evaluating economic development strategies and is relevant to government, non government, educational and community organisations.

The information has been designed to aid learning by incorporating simple graphics and key icons.
