Fitzroy and Central West

The Fitzroy and Central West region's economy has been driven by global demand for energy and food resources. The region generates 39.5 per cent of the State's coal production and about 13.4 per cent of its agricultural production. It also produces in excess of 50 per cent of the State's electricity and its natural deepwater port in Gladstone is the State's largest multi-commodity port.  The region's well established agricultural, mining and resource industries underpin internationally significant processing industries and a strong industrial services sector.

Centres of Enterprise target area

Manufacturing, engineering, and industrial services

Under the Centre of Enterprise initiative, stakeholders work to harness and build support for supply chain capacity, to position the Fitzroy and Central West as Australia's emerging centre of manufacturing, engineering and industrial services. Doing so will support and grow the sustainability and capability of the manufacturing and industrial services sectors supply chains for  the region's mining, minerals processing and agribusiness sectors

Fitzroy and Central West Centres of Enterprise Manufacturing, Engineering and Industrial Services Industry Action Plan

Further information on advanced manufacturing can be found on the Department's key industries pages.
