Fitzroy and Central WestThe Fitzroy and Central West region's economy has been driven by global demand for energy and food resources. The region generates 39.5 per cent of the State's coal production and about 13.4 per cent of its agricultural production. It also produces in excess of 50 per cent of the State's electricity and its natural deepwater port in Gladstone is the State's largest multi-commodity port. The region's well established agricultural, mining and resource industries underpin internationally significant processing industries and a strong industrial services sector.
