The Centres of Enterprise initiative works to build the economic strength of Queensland's regions. By focusing on each region's unique strengths and key opportunities, our regions will become known worldwide for their innovation and expertise. The State Government has named six Queensland regions as Centres of Enterprise. Building on previous collaborative work with business, industry and other regional stakeholders, each region has identified key industries with significant potential to attract new investment, expand business and drive their economies forward.

The Queensland Government is working with regional leaders to develop and deliver strategies and activities to address issues such as competitiveness, productivity, skills and training, investment attraction, innovation and technology diffusion, and infrastructure needs. Centres of Enterprise is a flexible model, responsive to changes in a region's economic environment. Over time, new key industry opportunities are expected to arise which will build on first stage initiatives in the region. Regions will also be able respond to emerging challenges, such as global economic conditions and climate change.
